Gaura was born, and is currently based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She has her ancestral roots in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Gaura completed her Bachelor of Design in Moving Images from MRID, Faculty of Fine Arts at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2021, and has since worked on on short films, product photography, short documentary films, social media and content creation, corporate videos, magazine articles, and brand building amongst other things. Currently, she is working at CEPT University as a Teaching Associate alongside practicing independently as a Visual Artist.​

She is passionate about exploring women's stories within the Indian diaspora through the audio-visual medium, and enjoys working on projects that bring forth the experimental and ever-evolving nature of storytelling.
